For volunteers who wish to lead exhibit-related activities with visitors inside selected special exhibitions. Volunteers are required to attend all training sessions and to commit to the established program schedule on a regular basis.
Role: Provide highlights on themes and/or artifacts or present hands-on activities to visitors, giving them an opportunity to handle artifacts, reproductions and other exhibit-related materials.
Membership: Varies from exhibition to exhibition: about 30 to 50 volunteers are recruited for each of the selected special exhibitions.
When: The schedule for the Volunteer Interpreter Program varies with each different special exhibition where it is offered and in some cases this may include weekends and statutory holidays.
Training: Volunteers receive extensive training from staff and other experts, practical information on their role, and guided practice time prior to the exhibition’s opening.
Incentives: Volunteer membership at the CMCC with all associated benefits and privileges, as well as special perks offered by the Volunteer Interpreter Program.
