All active Borden records registered up to September 7, 2007 were extracted from the CMC Sites Database and compiled into two searchable .dbf tables for use as layers in this WMS: the Archaeological Sites layer and the Research Activity layer.
The Archaeological Sites layer contains:
Borden Number | Upper Borden | Lower Borden | Sequence Number | Site Name | Designated Heritage Sites and National Parks Sites | Territory/Province | District/County | Site Type Class | Site Type | Features | Culture
The Research Activity layer contains:
Researcher Name | Date Observed
NOTE :
Currently, the two tables are not linked; queries are limited
to fields within each table.
Each layer can be turned on or off in the Map Contents window.
Refer to the Data Dictionary and tables for a complete description of searchable fields and terms.
There are two basic ways of obtaining data using the WMS:
Search results will be returned in the results window. Click on the Details link in the Results window for a pop-up site report. All associated points returned in a query result will also be highlighted in blue on the Web viewer or right-click on the result in the results window and choose ‘Zoom To’ or ‘Pan To’.
NOTE: Because the locations of the sites cannot be shown when zoomed in beyond 1:2000000, the ‘Pan To’ function may be more useful than the ‘Zoom To’ function as it may zoom in too close.
Click here to view an illustrated guide (PDF file, 2 MB) to using queries or refer to the Help section on the WMS for more details.
Clearing the Results Window:Useful tips:
- Set your screen to full extent before querying.
- Be patient! The WMS is searching a large amount of data; map
compilation might be slow.
- The slower you pan, the faster the map will load.
- Refer to the Help section on the WMS for more details on how
to use the Web viewer.
Available searches (on “Archaeological Sites” layer):
Search by Borden NumberSearch by Upper Borden
