Tasunke Hin Hotewin (Roan Horse/Mary Ogle)
1874-1943
About 1890 Tiopa Brown introduced Tasunke Hin Hotewin to William Hall Ogle. At first they lived in Montana at the N Bar N bull camp, but by 1894 they were settled on a homestead at Wood Mountain. The homestead served as the headquarters for a larger ranch. The Ogles ran about 1200 horses and 600 head of cattle, which meant that there were always a lot of cowboys to feed. Tasunke Hin Hotewin lived in a large adobe house at first. Later it was replaced by a frame house. She raised a family of seven children - William, James, Richard, Edith, Dorothy, Lucy and Joe. Nearly all of the older Ogle children attended the Regina Industrial School for a few years.
