Man's jacket, Yellowknife, early 20th century
Canadian Museum of Civilization VI-S-4
A clothing fashion closely linked to the fur trade and activities around
the trading posts emerged towards the end of the nineteenth century.
Garments typical of this style include jackets and dresses of smoked hide
decorated with fringes and porcupine quillwork, and with floral motifs
worked in beads or embroidery thread.
