The Gitksan village of Gitsegyukla ("People of Seguecla Creek") was located
on the Upper Skeena River, a short distance from Hazelton. Two clans
inhabited the village -- the Raven and the Bear. There was an old and new
village of this name; the old village was destroyed by fire in 1872. The
new village was located nearby on higher ground.
