They Paved Paradise,  Life in the Parking Lot

Submission Agreement

Submissions may be made to this pilot project until December 15, 2009. Works will be posted to this site until March 31, 2010, at which time all posted submissions will be removed.

A jury comprised of artists and curators from within the Canadian Museum of Civilization and outside experts will review submissions monthly. Successful submissions will be posted as often as possible.

It is anticipated that if the proposed exhibition is approved, works posted on this web site may be included in the exhibition.

Artists, whose works are selected for the proposed exhibition, will be contacted in the summer of 2010, at the earliest, at which time contracts for exhibition and/or other rights will be negotiated.

There is no fee to submit your work to this site. Artist fees will only be paid to those artists whose work is selected for the proposed exhibition. Essentially, this site is an opportunity for you to showcase your work until March 31, 2010.

To submit your work, download the submission agreement document, complete the form, send the form to urban_native_project@civilization.ca and mail a CD or a DVD with your work to:

Morgan Baillargeon

We welcome submissions in a wide range of genres.

Submissions will be reviewed for relation to the theme pertaining to Native urban life, the experience reflected in the work, coherence, and production values.

If your submission is chosen for the web site and proposed exhibition, it will be presented in its original language.

Please keep in mind that this is a public site, viewed by millions of adults and children. We do not discourage works which deal with mature subject matters. However, if selected, these works may be posted in a "mature subject matter" section.
