It was during this period that I made the trip to the apartment on Thornhill Avenue, where I met Chris Bennedsen, his wife Connie and his brother Sigvard, who would subsequently prove to be so helpful in our research on Chris’s life and family.
Chris passed away in 2002, and I determined that it would be worthwhile to make this remarkable collection more accessible to virtual museum visitors from Canada and across the world. Carol Anderson enthusiastically accepted the job of rewriting a life that vibrantly percolates through this large collection of letters, papers and pictures. In her thoughtful narrative, there unfolds a story about Chris’s emigration to Canada from Denmark in the postwar era, a subject of interest to Canadians today and to future generations as we discover how very much we have been, and still are, involved with the rest of the world.
Particular thanks are offered to the staff of the CMCC Archives who have been so helpful to the author and other collaborators throughout the process.
