New Automated Parking at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Less congestion at the exit and faster service!

Planning to park in the Museum's underground parking? If you are, when you are ready to leave, you can pay for parking at one of the kiosks located near the Museum exits on levels P1 and P2.

How Does it Work?

  • Enter the Museum's parking on level P2, where you will obtain a parking ticket from the spitter.
  • Bring your parking ticket with you into the Museum.
  • When you have completed your visit and are ready to leave, you can go to a pay-on-foot terminal to pay for parking — two units conveniently located inside the Museum, near the doors to the parking.
  • Once you have paid for parking, the pay-on-foot issues a proof-of-payment voucher.
  • You can then go to your car and make your way to the exit located on the P1 level.
  • At the new and improved three-lane exit, simply slide your proof-of-payment voucher through the reader and the gate opens.

How Do the Pay-on-Foot Terminals Work, and Where Are They Located?

There are two pay-on-foot terminals. The first is located inside the Museum, near the column at the P1 parking level. The second pay-on-foot is located inside the Museum, in front of the glass doors at the P2 entrance to the Museum. The pay-on-foot accepts various methods of payment: cash (bills and coins), debit card, VISA, Mastercard and AMEX. The pay-on-foot gives change in cash (bills and coins) and issues a proof-of-payment voucher to be used by visitors upon exiting the parking garage on level P1.

What Changes Are Being Made to the Exit?

The parking exit remains on level P1. There are three exit lanes and one booth. Each lane is equipped with a reader. The booth is located in the middle lane.

Visitors who have paid for parking before exiting the Museum will simply slide their proof-of-payment voucher (obtained from the pay-on foot located inside the Museum) at any one of the three readers. A formal sales receipt will be issued at this time and the gate will open to allow the visitor to exit the parking area.

What Happens if I Forget to Pay for Parking at One of the Pay-on-Foot Terminals?

Upon reaching the exit on level P1, visitors who have forgotten to pay for their parking at one of the pay-on-foot locations will be able to pay for their parking at any one of the readers located at all three exit lanes. The readers accept cash and credit cards, as well as customizable vouchers.
