If you happen to be in Prince Edward Island in the summer, come meet Lucy Maud Montgomery, the famous author of Anne of Green Gables. In an exhibition presented at the Cavendish post office, you will discover the fascinating connection between this illustrious Canadian writer and the post.

This small exhibition invites you to follow the writer’s manuscripts through the postal system. Many objects from the collection of the Canadian Postal Museum illustrate Lucy Maud Montgomery’s work as assistant postmaster. Taking advantage of her job at the family’s post office, the determined young woman discretely mailed the manuscript of her famous novel to publishers. That is how she managed to get it published.

The exhibition was produced by the Canadian Postal Museum of the Canadian Museum of Civilization in collaboration with its presenting sponsor, Canada Post.
