The Art of Bronze Sculpture

The Art of Bronze Sculpture

Gatineau, Quebec, July 19, 2006 — Join us on July 20, in the special exhibition PETRA: Lost City of Stone at the Canadian Museum of Civilization for an exciting demonstration on the lost-wax technique that was used to turn wax images into bronze sculptures. Nadine Argo, a local artist and sculptor, will reveal how theses sculptures were cast.

A major highlight in the Petra exhibition is a nearly life-size bronze statue of the Greco-Roman goddess Artemis, the only surviving statue of its type from Petra, and an example of the many now-lost large sculptures that adorned the main streets and public squares of Petra during the Roman era.
