The Story Behind the Hidden Treasures of Afghanistan
Gatineau, Quebec, January 20, 2010 — In conjunction with the acclaimed international exhibition AFGHANISTAN: Hidden Treasures, the Canadian Museum of Civilization invites you to meet Dr. Fredrik Hiebert, world-renowned explorer and archaeologist with the National Geographic Society.
Dr. Hiebert was a privileged witness to the rediscovery of the objects in this exhibition; he was present when the treasures, which had been hidden in the Presidential Palace in Kabul, were unveiled. As guest curator for the exhibition, he will speak about the history of the objects and the courage of the Afghan people in preserving their heritage.
