Added by you! Lester B. Pearson

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate in 1957 and Liberal Prime Minister of Canada from 1963 to 1968, Lester Bowles “Mike” Pearson had a profound impact on Canada and the world. Domestically, he oversaw the adoption of the Maple Leaf flag and the introduction of Medicare, the Canada Pension Plan and the Auto Pact, among other initiatives. Internationally, he took part in the creation of NATO and the United Nations, and served a term as President of the UN General Assembly. He helped defuse the 1956 Suez Crisis by promoting the establishment of the UN Emergency Force and, in so doing, earned the Nobel Peace Prize and the sobriquet “the father of modern peacekeeping.” Lester Pearson died in 1972.
