Louis-Joseph, Marquis de Montcalm
Louis-Joseph, the Marquis de Montcalm, was a French military commander. During the Seven Years’ War, Montcalm led the French defence of Québec, as British troops bombarded the city. On September 13, 1759, at the fateful Battle of the Plains of Abraham, Montcalm fell, mortally wounded. His troops were defeated, and France later capitulated to the British.
