Olive Dickason
Born in Winnipegin 1920 and of Métis heritage, Olive Dickason was a renowned journalist, scholar and professor. She began her career in the newspaper business, working as a reporter and editor at some of Canada’s top publications. Dickason later earned a PhD and taught for many years at the Universityof Alberta. She also wrote several nonfiction books, including Canada’s First Nations: A History of Founding Peoples from Earliest Times. A Member of the Order ofCanada, Olive Dickason died in 2011, aged 91.
