Sicilian Cart

Richly decorated Sicilian carts were often used in the daily transportation of people, foodstuffs, building materials and tools. Originally painted in a single colour, or with rudimentary designs, Sicilian carts were gradually transformed into veritable works of art. This one was produced in 1949 in Sicily, Italy. It was used in Canada in a number of parades and cultural festivals.
