Lee-Ann Martin

Ms. Martin is currently researching the life and art of First Nations artist Alex Janvier, and developing an exhibition of contemporary Aboriginal art concerning the environment. Her many exhibition credits include guest curator and author of the publication for the exhibition In My Lifetime: Contemporary Aboriginal Art, presented at both the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec in Québec City; and Bob Boyer: His Life’s Work, organized by the MacKenzie Art Gallery, Regina, in association with the Museum of Civilization. Most recently, she co-curated the exhibition Close Encounters: The Next 500 Years that opened in various venues in Winnipeg in January 2011, and was organized by the Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art in association with the Museum of Civilization.

Previously, Ms. Martin was an independent curator, a Curatorial Fellow with the Walter Phillips Gallery in Banff, Alberta, and Head Curator at the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina. She holds a Master’s degree in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto.
